Palm shell (moisture content of 6%-12%) is sent into carbonization furnace for drying. With the increase of temperature, carbonization process begins after the moisture in the palm shells has been evaporated. Due to carbonization of palm shell needs a certain temperature and enough time; carbonization requires 600 degrees Celsius and 40 to 60 minutes. Palm shell carbon has strong strength and density, so temperature of carbonization shall be over 600 degrees Celsius. The higher the temperature, the shorter the carbonizing time. The above process is carried out in carbonization furnace; palm shell carbon is discharged and cooled. Palm shell charcoal has 90% of carbon content, 5% of ash, 5% of water, calorific value of about 6500 to 7900 kcal.
